March Madness

March Madness is almost here!  Yes, you are at Loomis & Long.  Although sports aren’t usually what we cover here, there is just so much to love when it comes to the Big Dance.  Let’s start with the classic ’80’s theme song “One Shining Moment.”

It’s an annual tradition that my family does our own high stakes pool — $5 each!  It is a lot of fun, as truly zero skill is required to fill out a bracket.

My mom’s strategy last year was to pick Catholic schools to win whenever possible.  We enjoyed when she picked Seton Hall to win it all.

There is also lots of trash talking via family group text once the games get going.

Also, March Madness rivalries are a great distraction from the hideous March weather.

For instance, my sister-in-law (who I love like a sister) went to Duke.  And, my brother (her husband) hates Duke.  This pretty much sums up his feelings.

When Lehigh upset Duke in 2012, this was a direct quote from him.

I have never been prouder to have siblings who went to Patriot League schools.

You’re welcome.

The sheer unpredictability of it all is what makes the NCAA tournament irresistible for me.  Who could forget this classic?

So, in the spirit of March Madness fun, Loomis and I are both going to fill out our own brackets.  I will literally die if one of our brackets beats Horseface or Boy Wonder’s selections.  Or, even better, Warren Buffet is giving $1 billion dollars for a perfect bracket.  The odds of actually filling out a perfect bracket are something like 1 in 128 billion, but you never know.  Plus, the $1B might help Loomis pay off part of her post-DC trip credit card bill.

There can only be one winner, sooooo stay tuned to if it’s Loomis OR Long who will “cut down the net” on April 2.
