2018 Oscar Red Carpet Round up (or, it’s all about the shoulders)

While Loomis is in D.C. today using her (probably hoarse from last night) voice to advocate for #betterbeauty,  I’m going solo on the Oscar fashion recap.

(Go get ’em, Loomis!)

I like to keep things positive around here, so I’ll keep it to the looks and moments that I loved.

Let’s start right here with Saorsie Ronan (and not just because she’s Irish, I swear)  She had me with her complete perfection at the Spirit Awards, and I wondered if that could be topped.

…and then there was this from Calvin Klein.

Irish for the win!  I mean, look at that BOW.

Best part? She’s ready to rock once the show is over.  Her stylist said: “The train comes off, so she can party her ass off.”  That’s Loomis & Long approved.

My close second favorite was Laura Dern.  She nailed sleek movie star glamor.

Can we talk about the breathtaking detail in the shoulders? Note how they are different.  Cavlin Klein did it again.

And here is our very own Loomis looking gorgeous and glam at the Beautycounter Academy Award viewing party.  It was at the National Portrait Gallery. And, oh yes, that’s M.O. behind her.

Some other looks to note.

Jane Fonda in Balmain.  You guys.  She’s 80.

Zendaya in Giambattista Valli Couture.  Once again, all about the shoulders.

Jennifer Garner in Versace with an asymmetrical neckline (more shoulder action here).  Super excited about her return to TV!  Her new HBO show is from “Girls” creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner and sounds hilarious.

Shoutout to my 16 year old girls’ dream double date.  In case you don’t know these fellas, it’s Ansel Elgort (The Fault in our Stars) and Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name).

A few of my favorite show moments included…

Dern dons glasses when she presents (sooooo glad I’m not the only one!)

I think it’s a glass of water. But if it’s wine, we are officially Loomis, Long & Lawrence.  (that’s my kind of pour, BTW)

Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph for the win.

TIFFANY HADDISH: We are so happy to be here but our feet hurt.

MAYA RUDOLPH: Yeah. I had to take my shoes off.

HADDISH: Girl, me too. I’ve been wearing these shoes since 11 o’clock this morning. How long you been wearing your shoes?

RUDOLPH: Since the Critics’ Choice Awards.

HADDISH: Well, I got blisters bubbling up on the bottom of my foot.

RUDOLPH: Girl, my pinkie toe fell off.

Can we please start the campaign now for these two to host in 2019?

They also reminded me precisely why I prefer to watch the Oscars from the comfort of my very own home.
