This Sunday is the start of the annual entertainment awards season. It kicks off with my personal fave, the Golden Globes, where the Champagne is flowing and celebs can get a little loose.
(In case you were wondering, my #2 is the Film Independent Spirit Awards)
For the record, I have not seen any of the movies nominated, sooooooo hence the title of this blog post. That isn’t unusual, as I’m not as much of a movie buff as I used to be. My parents and brother (who all have great taste in movies), loved “I Tonya.” I think Loomis may have seen some of the animated ones? I don’t even know the songs nominated, for goodness sakes!
Obviously rooting for Michelle Williams in Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. No need to even see the movie.
And, off course hoping for a sighting of our favorite BFF gal pals on the town together.
With TV, I’m back in my comfort zone. For Best Television Series – Drama, I’m truly torn between The Crown and This is Us.

But, I have to go with The Crown. I’m obsessed. So much so, that I’m thinking about referring to my daughter Elizabeth as “Lilibet” from now on (she has been Ellie her entire life.) Loomis is thrilled, as she’s shhhh…a bit of a “This is Us” hater. Which is kind of like hating puppies, which she definitely doesn’t.
It’s a similar conflict for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a TV Series. Dern vs. Chrissy Merz vs. Shaelene.

I think I’m going to have to give it to Shaelene, although I think in reality Chrissy Merz will win.
I don’t know any of the shows that are Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, but SMILF looks pretty funny. Are any of you watching?
Equally as conflicted in the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category. Big Little Lies vs. The Sinner. As much as The Sinner sucked…me…in, my winner is BLL.
On that note, Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television has got to go to Reese.
And not just because more than one person told me that I reminded them of Madeline Martha Mackenzie. True? Kind of?
But, Nicole and Jessica were seriously incredible too. Side note: all I could think about for days after watching The Sinner was Jessica Biels’ arms. #goals.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television? You had me at Jude Law (even though I know he’s an ass IRL.)
(Probably only Loomis gets the pun.)
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Drama 100% deserved by Queen Claire Foy.
Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series – Drama is another toughie for me.

Justin Bateman and I go waaaaay back. But Liev was really incredible in this heartbreaking season. Gotta go with Ray.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television is 100% going to Alexander Skarsgård
He was such a convincing bastard as Perry. I literally hated him.
Let us not forget the Cecil B. DeMille Award which goes this year to the one and only…
In her honor, I couldn’t resist.
I’m always hyped to see the GG fashions, but this year I am equally as excited to see how the Hollywood community, male and female, will address the #metoo and #timesup movement. Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, and Mary J. Blige are reportedly planning to wear black
as a gesture of solidarity with victims of sexual abuse.
There’s a misconception that this is a silent protest. Instead of asking us who we’re wearing, they’ll ask us why we’re wearing black. We’re using that platform and using our voices to say we can change this ideology, and shatter the sexism that teaches men that women are less. – Eva Longoria
If anyone can handle this serious topic, while still keeping the celebratory vibe of the night, it’s host Seth Meyers. And not just because he looks just like my youngest brother Dave.
He does? Right?
If Loomis survives her ski weekend, she will be back on Monday with a recap.
Cheers to the weekend, and stay warm you east coasters!
