Happy hump day! Today we are unveiling a new Wednesday feature. Meet “Women Who Kick Ass.” Every Wednesday (well, more like when we are motivated to do it), we will profile women who we think do just that.
Our inaugural woman is no other than Reese Witherspoon. She’s the ultimate quadruple threat: actor/feminist filmaker/fashion designer/mom. If you are an L&L fan (Hi mom and Kerry!), you’ll know that we fell in love with her Draper James boutique when we were in Dallas.
All that aside, Reese gets the nod this week for embracing her success with confidence and not apologizing for it (or giving anyone else the credit). Reese was recently the winner of the Wall Street Journal’s “Innovator of the Year” award due to her assertiveness, leadership and unwavering activism for female empowerment.
Here she is accepting the award with her look-alike daughter. Love that they have the same shoes on!
But, what we loved most is that she owned it.
I know I’m good at things. And I’m over being bashful about it. Do basketball players have to sit there and act coy? Tell me something: Does LeBron James twiddle his thumbs and say, ‘Jeez, I’m kind of great at shooting, and I guess I’m OK at dribbling and passing’? No, he’s like, ‘I’m amazing! I rock!’
May we all have that confidence…and an adorable Frenchie, to boot.
P.S. Do you know an ass kicking woman you want to nominate to be featured? Hit that little email button below and let us know!
