Top 10 Tuesday – Stripes Edition

We think stripes are bananas awesome – don’t you agree?

Long kicking things off with . . .

1.The Stars & Stripes – Oh, yes.  Oh, yes I did.  One year, I put all of my kids in matching Ralph Lauren Flag sweaters for our Christmas card photo.  ‘merica.

2.Striped beach chairs because they are where I plop myself all summer loooooong (pun intended).

3.  Stripes the movie

“We’re Americans. With a capital “A”, huh? And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We’re the underdog. We’re mutts”. – John Winger

(of course I had to pick a dog quote.)

4.  Candy stripers.  Oh so retro.  I would have volunteered simply for the uniforms.

and how can we forget when Carrie donned this outfit for an ailing Mr. Big?

5.  The Henri Bendel stripes because they mean mama is getting something good!

[Enter: Loomis]

This might be the toughest assignment yet, Long.

Just throw out 5 striped things that I like? I meannnn HOW ABOUT 5 BAZILLION?!

Luckily, it’s only Tuesday so I have a few more days to bombard you with striped things but I think a striped month might be in order.

Regardless, I best get started!

6. Striped awnings.  I could post a hundred of these so I’ll just go ahead and calm myself down and share two special ones I’ve seen in person.

Liz Caan’s store in Newton is TDF on the outside and I physically ache for everything on the inside.  I recommend Laduree for post-retail therapy.

Oh, and this is weird, my dream home snuck in here? Get back in my dreams, you sweet thing!  I’ll meet up with you in a few years.

And also a vacay that missed the bucket list somehow, the Malliouhana.

(note to Long, ALL of our lists need to be lengthened.)

7. speaking of vacays . . . The Beverly Hills Hotel has nailed their usage of decorative stripes.  And in pink and green, no less.  They pull it off in a way that doesn’t make me want to vom. Kudos.

8. The striped shirt.

I’ll drink to that!

9. When I think about stripes, I also can’t help but think of the striped shiz they give newborn babies at pretty much every hospital on the planet.  YOU KNOW THE ONES – the blankies and caps that leave everyone speculating . .

I don’t think anyone questioned if mine were girls since they have been in pink ever since they graced us with their presence – like this lil’ number C came home from the hospital sporting 22 days later.  Stripes!

And while we are on the topic of the trials and tribulations of these little nuggets –

10. The last stripes I’d like to address today are the ones on my tummy.  {Womp wahhhhhhh}

I’d prefer them on my lounge chairs by the pool or cute dresses, but . . .

I have a message for anyone else with these souvenirs.

Now go get ’em, tigers!
